Seal Fishery Re-opening

DFO advises that the Commercial and Personal use seal fishery for residents of sealing area 4 (Northern Labrador) will re-open at 6:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 and continue until the close of the season on Sunday, May 15, 2005.  Residents of sealing area 4 may harvest seals in sealing areas 4 and 5.

DFO further advises that the seal fishery in areas 7 and 8 (South of Cape Bonavista) will re-open at 6:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 and continue until the close of the season on Sunday, May 15, 2005.  This opening applies to vessels less than 35' in length and to Personal use license holders.

Residents of sealing areas 7 and 8 may harvest seals in areas 7 and 8 only.

Sealers are reminded of the requirement to hail daily to 1-866-490-6094
